Youth Mentorship
Youth Mentorship is where we sit beside a young person and say, "You do not have to figure this out alone." When we designed this program, we thought about the students who are trying to keep up in class, lead in their schools, and still carry the quiet questions that keep them awake at night. Our mentorship gives them a steady, trusted guide for both the big decisions and the everyday moments.
Each participant is paired with a caring mentor who walks with them through three key areas: personal growth, leadership, and academics. Together they set real, reachable goals-raising a grade in a challenging subject, speaking up in class, trying out for a new opportunity, or building healthier friendships. Mentors do not just talk about success; they help students plan for it step by step, checking in regularly and celebrating progress along the way.
Educational support is woven into every session. We help youth organize their schoolwork, understand expectations from teachers, and build study habits that actually fit their lives. When needed, we connect them to online resources, tutoring, and college and career guidance so they can see how today's choices open tomorrow's doors.
Our Youth Mentorship program can be experienced virtually, making it accessible to students in Detroit and to young people in communities connected to our global work. Group sessions and leadership circles allow teens to learn from one another, practice communication skills, and see that they are not the only ones navigating pressure and possibility.
Over time, youth begin to stand a little taller. They learn how to advocate for themselves, lead with empathy, and stay focused on their dreams even when life feels heavy. Your support helps us match more students with mentors who believe in them, encourage them, and remind them that their story is still being written-and that they hold the pen.
